Peugeot 408

Seeking to appeal to buyers in China's burgeoning automotive market, Peugeot has revealed the 408 notchback, created in the same ilk as the 307 sedan and notchback variants available in China.
Designed and developed jointly by Peugeot's design teams in Europe and China, the notchback sedan is identical to the European market 308 from the B-pillar forwards, but has an added ‘trunk' at the rear, which is said to embody the marque's modernity. This addendum adds 400mm to its overall length, bringing the total to 4680mm.
The 408's interior is identical to the European market hatchback, with a tried and true ergonomic layout that exemplifies an inherent 'automobile' quality - the binnacle was inspired by chronometers and by the precision of measuring instruments - but it is also airy thanks to its large front screen and optional panoramic glass roof.
The new vehicle will be produced by the French automaker's joint venture partner Dong Feng and target the M1 segment, which accounts for over 45 percent of the total market.
