Volkswagen Amarok

Volkswagen has revealed the first official photos of the Amarok pickup, the production version of the Search and Rescue (SAR) concept the automaker unveiled in Hanover, Germany, in September last year.
The Amarok reflects the latest Volkswagen design DNA with frontal styling in line with the latest Transporter and Golf. It is 5250mm long with a ladder frame chassis and will be offered with a choice of rear-wheel drive and switchable or permanent 4MOTION all-wheel drive.
The new truck will be built in Volkswagen's South American factory in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It will be initially available as a four-door double cab version from launch starting in its native South America in early 2010. A single cab model will follow in 2011.
As with its exterior design, the interior also resembles Volkswagen's passenger cars. The company is touting class-leading headroom and ample legroom for passengers on the rear bench seat. Though the cabin can accomodate five, interior storage space can be increased by folding the rear seat if only two people are traveling.
