Volkswagen Jetta

Volkswagen chose to unveil the sixth generation Jetta in New York's Times Square, highlighting the importance of the car in the North American market. Designed under the codename NCS (New Compact Sedan) and previewed in concept form at the 2010 NAIAS, the new Jetta features Volkswagen's new design DNA as seen on the new Polo and recently refreshed Touareg.
As we rightly predicted in January, the new Jetta's aesthetic is identical to the NCC concept shown in Detroit, though the production version has two additional doors and a 4644mm overall length, 100mm longer than the concept and 90mm longer than the fifth generation Jetta. The new car's roofline is also 38mm higher than that of the concept. Every exterior panel is new, with the now characteristic 'tornado' shoulder line and a monolithic design contributing to an elegant appearance overall, albeit a conservative one.
The new Jetta's interior features an all-new dashboard with subtle aluminum highlights and an enhanced ergonomic layout, with newly-designed intuitive controls in the center stack. Rear seat occupants will benefit from the new car's 2648mm wheelbase, an increase of 70mm over the fifth generation car.
